Fundraising intern
Help Maiya School raise much needed funds to educate adolescent girls living in the world’s largest refugee camp, Kutupalong Rohingya camp in Bangladesh.
As a Maiya School Fundraising Intern, you’ll be working in your local community, connecting with schools, universities, organisations and community groups to advance education and gender equality for vulnerable people. Your first fundraising mission will be our Ramadan campaign, encouraging the Australian Muslim community to donate their Zakat to Maiya School, allowing a Rohingya adolescent to receive an education which she would otherwise not afford.
Commitment:
5 hours a week (potentially more in the lead up to, and during Ramadan). Mid-February to mid-May (3 months) with opportunity to extend.
Key responsibilities:
Strategy: Developing a fundraising strategy for our 2023 Ramadan campaign
Networking: Connecting with schools, universities, organisations and community groups to collaborate on fundraising efforts
Events: Planning and promoting upcoming events, set-up and execution
Fundraising: Running bucket collections, stalls, helping at fundraising events and much more
Promotion: Acting as an ambassador for Maiya School, representing us at different events and school assemblies
Creating: Designing marketing materials to promote Maiya School events and fundraising campaigns
Brainstorming: Putting your unique skills to use in helping Maiya School raise funds in creative ways
Administration: Making phone calls, writing letters and emails
Requirements:
Based in Sydney, Australia
Volunteering or fundraising experience
Part of an existing network or group (e.g. current university student, member of community organisation, or faith-based community)
Deep understanding of Ramadan, Zakat and Saqadah
Strong self-starter and ability to take initiative
Working With Children’s Check & Police Check
Desirable:
Knowledge of the Rohingya community and refugee crisis
